How to design, develop and build a fully-integrated melt electrowriting 3D printer

چکیده

Melt electrowriting (MEW) is a high resolution material extrusion based additive manufacturing process with the unique capability to produce micron sub-micron diameter fibres and control their deposition in three dimensions. Here, we detail design, development build of custom MEW printer which has full integration between all core components. We design motion system, print head (including heaters, system voltage power supply) safety systems, explain how these are integrated via central unit provide pre-programmed dynamic over printing variables allowing fabrication range advanced designs applications fields tissue engineering, regenerative medicine beyond. discuss various approaches may be used for each within printer, providing an insight into it designed depending on specific requirements end user. Finally, demonstrate capabilities this by producing engineering scaffolds architectures. This work aims make technology more accessible both informing others interested developing similar devices, additionally, inner workings practitioners field.
